We had a really good week. It was busy, but I felt like we actually got quite a bit done. We also had some fun and got some some exciting news that is going to change everything!
I had an interview on Friday that resulted in a job! We'll be moving at the end of this week and will now be living in a smaller city and our days will be full of watching a half dozen little ones! I will keep you updated as I can. I haven't found out yet if I can share any information on here - most of the kids are foster children. But that doesn't mean I can't talk about our days at all!
Wednesday, we took some time to go to the local pumpkin patch and corn maze. I had gotten wonderfully priced tickets from Groupon, and I didn't want to waste them. So we spent the last 70* day of the year outside. It was a gorgeous day.
As far as actual school work, we worked hard the rest of the week, learning about longitude & latitude in science and started reviewing the beginning chapters of Story of the World. We've both got the first 8 characters of the Hebrew aleph-bet pretty well down, in both script and block. We also learned our first two Hebrew words, so that was pretty exciting.
We're still pushing through with MEP. I'm trying to skip through as much as we can without actually missing anything. Same goes with First Language Lessons.
It wasn't a super exciting week, education-wise. We're still just trying to get into a daily schedule. I'll have to think about our schedule this week and figure out how it's going to work with the new job. Thankfully, we will have time each day to do some one-on-one work.
How'd your week go? To find out what other homeschoolers have been up to this week, head over to Weekly Wrap-Up (guest hosted by See Jamie this week).

Weekly Wrap Up: Week 1
We finished week one! I know, we are behind the rest of the country, but that is the great thing about homeschooling! We had a busy late summer/beginning fall. We continued doing some school work, but I decided we would really get into things at the beginning of October.
My intention was to start last week, with the hope that we would be moved and life would be calming down at that point. Well.... it hasn't. So I wasn't able to really get started last week. And this week was still not what I would consider a full week.
Because we packed up all our stuff last spring with the hopes we'd be moved and because money is tight, we are running on very limited books and curriculum. I need to spend some time in my closet, because I think there might be some of the stuff I want up there. But I'm creative and Bug is inquisitive, so we are rarely short on things to talk about and learn.
Bug got through a few lessons of MEP this week. He's taken to wanting me to mark all his wrong answers in red, and giving him a grade. I'm not sure how I feel about that ~ but as long as he works hard I guess I'll continue to humor him.
We also did some shopping this week and he got to learn rounding cents up to dollars, and he did a lot of adding and subtracting in his head. He's also been working on his reading of numbers and years. He may be behind on paper (due to my laziness) but I have no fears about his math ability.
He did a lot of reading on his own, mostly of his new DK Star Wars readers. I'm still amazed at how his reading ability has improved the last few months. I have no idea what else (if anything) I can do to help him, so I just make sure he's reading out loud to me every few days.
We discussed some on autumn, specifically the changing of the leaves. We went on a couple walks and collected leaves. We have a project planned for next week, if we can collect enough leaves!
Bug is also working on his 'research' about vitamins. He decided he wanted to have his own notebook and have time to do his own learning. I wasn't going to tell him no! :D I have no idea where it is leading, but the journey is so much better than the destination!
Today I introduced him with Dance Mat Typing Tutor. I'm not thrilled with it, but he did a great job! I'm looking forward to him being able to type which will lead him to wanting to do more research on the computer (I hope!).
I'm happy with our first week. I'm hoping next week I have a bit more planned. I felt horrible that he was asking to do school and I had so little available for him to do.

LEGO Creation Thursday
My friend Michele over at My Blessings From Above has started a meme called 'LEGO Creation Thursday'. What a great idea. Why don't you join us!
Bug is always bringing me creations he's made with his LEGOS. They usually have something to do with Star Wars. He's not as much a creator as he is player. His favorite LEGO sets are the ones with lots of people because that is how he plays. But his creations are still creative, inventive, and fun.
Today's creation was made especially for this post. I asked him to bring me something he created this morning so I could post it and he set to work making something new.

Menu Plans?
I used to be really good about menu plans. Then.. I fell off the wagon. They are back, but not here. They are over at my new blog - Edible Food. It's my new project that focuses on, well, food. And since a menu is food - it fits much better over there!
So if you'd like to see what we are cooking up this week, head over there. I'll also be posting recipes, how I'm doing on my diet, and pretty much anything involving real food.
