| We found an alive but un-moving crab on the beach! |
Our week started off with a couple field trips. Monday, my mom came down and we explored some of the local farms, markets, and pumpkin patches. It was a gorgeous fall day (although a bit chilly) and we had a lot of fun. Tuesday, we headed with my mom to the Oregon Coast! It was cold, but it was still the beach!
We also checked out the Lewis & Clark Salt Works. This site is where Lewis & Clark boiled sea water to extract the salt. The salt was used to cure and preserve meat for their journey home. There is a lot of Lewis & Clark history in the area (it is where they spent the winter!) and I look forward to exploring it more with Bug!
The rest of the week we focused on getting the kinks worked out of our schedule. I had originally planned on using this week for planning instead of school, but I really wanted to jump into a routine. So the school side was a little light, but we're learning what works and what doesn't.
With our more open schedule, Bug is now able to pull out bigger projects (and I'm less likely to veto them because of the mess). On Wednesday, he rediscovered his Egyptian Tomb dig. He spent many hours working on it. Hopefully he'll actually be able to extract some treasures from it next week!
This afternoon, I'm making Cinnamon Sugar Apple Cake to take to Growth Club (Bible Study). I am also going to attempt some organization of the pantry. It's about time that all the food is out of boxes, don't you think?

Love your post. We like a more open schedule too. The mess of big projects is a mess but such great memories. Thanks for sharing

Ugh--moving. . .we're facing a potential move and I dread packing and unpacking (hubby had a skype interview in OR this week in fact!).
ReplyDeleteBut on another note, it looks like you had a nice, relaxed resumption of your school learning! :)
What fun pictures! I too love open schedules!! I would like to invite you to link up at my linky party - http://livinglifeintentionally.blogspot.com/search/label/Linkey%20Parties

Nice post:) We keep all of our weeks open so we have plenty of time to dive into big, messy, and/or involved projects. Love the Egyptian Tomb dig...that is just too cool!
