In my life this week…It felt like a bit of a crazy week. I'm still trying to finalize some of our plans for the year (like our reading list) and just really get on top of things. It's hard to get on top when it's moving forward, though. I'll keep working at it and pray that I eventually get there. I'd like to move on to letting my brain think on things other than school stuff.
To top it all off, I managed to end the week with a cold that I'm still battling with. It's not a bad one, but enough to sap all my energy. I didn't get much done in the way of house cleaning yesterday and we've stayed home from church today. I'm praying that I feel better by Monday!
In our homeschool this week…We started up our full schedule. It's definitely going to take some time to get a rhythm to our day, but we're on our way. In history we read about Muhammad and the beginning of the Islam religion. We followed this with most of a National Geographic documentary on the Hajj and the travel to Mecca. Although it was about modern day people, it gave some good information about the history and the ideas behind who the Muslims are.
We also started up Latin, spelling, grammar & math this week. We took Wednesday off because my mom was in town and ended up making Thursday a half day because she came back down. So I can't really say how well any of those is going since we only did two days worth! I'm looking forward to really getting into stuff next week with no interruptions!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…Be flexible! Between my mom visiting, a doctor's appointment, and my cold, we didn't get as much done as I wanted. I don't let that side-track us though!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…My mom visited on Wednesday and Thursday. Bug had his first eye exam this week. That was enough out of the norm while we try to get into a routine!
My favorite thing this week was…The note Bug wrote to me while I was on the phone. He was complaining that he was out of independent work and that I was wasting his time. What I loved the most was he actually WROTE on paper with a pencil. His spelling was pretty good & he was open to correction! We actually went through it and talked about some spelling & grammar corrections. Although it wasn't a requirement, it's going into his notebook!
Questions/thoughts I have…How can I/ Do I juggle all the things I want or need to do. Not only do I need to have time to pray about, prepare and carry-out homeschooling, but I need to be thinking about my health & diet and I'd really like to get back into my digital scrapbooking!
I’m cooking…Grain-free tortillas/crepes! Made out of coconut flour, they actually turned out this week! Yes, I've gone back off of grain. For now. More on that to come.
I’m grateful for…My awesome hubby who works hard so I can stay home. He's also very forgiving when my energy gets sapped because of illness or struggling with my thyroid!
The group of amazing women that I'm in a daily online Bible Study with. We are currently going through the book of Colossians and it is so inspiring!
