Pizza!! A Review & Giveaway!

Who doesn't like pizza? I know in our family we have it about once a week.  Usually, I make them myself.  I make the crust from scratch and top with a variety of toppings.  But some weeks, I just don't get around to making it.  Usually, this ends up with us picking up a take-and-bake from Papa Murphy's.   Not the healthiest option, but we could do worse!

I was given the opportunity from Mom's Meet to review Annie's Organic Rising Crust Pizza.  This is a new pizza found in the freezer section.  They have 4 different topping varieties:  Spinach & Mushroom, Cheese, Uncured Pepperoni & Supreme.

We gave the Spinach & Mushroom Pizza try.  The first thing I always look at is the ingredients.  Annie's is organic, but that doesn't always mean I want all organic products in my food.  Taking a look at the ingredients, the only thing I really have issues with is the soybean oil.  At least with it being organic it is non-GMO & it's pretty far down the ingredient list.  Not how *I* would make it, but it's better than Papa Murphy's pizza we usually get!

Opening up the box, I could immediately tell the 11.5" pizza was not going to be enough for this family of 3.   Between my husband and my growing boy, we can put away a large pizza no problem!

The baking process was easy and the pizza looked & smelled wonderful as it came out of the oven.  The crust was crusty on the outside and had a wonderful rise to it.  Sadly, we were disappointed by the overall taste.  It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out as a GOOD pizza.  The crust had a good texture, but both the crust and the sauce seemed to be lacking in flavor.  We ate (it was dinner after all) but it wasn't outstanding.

Annie's Organic Rising Crust Pizza is available at Whole Foods in the freezer section.  It's suggest price is $9.99.  For us, the price & location makes it something we won't be buying again.  Having organic ingredients is good, but it's not our prime motivator when buying food which means that we won't go out of the way for this specific product.
