Last weekend was very busy and I didn't have a chance to write up my journal. So this is going to be a very full journal covering two weeks.
In my life this week…
I've been BUSY. Bug's 10th birthday was on Saturday. We celebrated by having a BBQ and playing in the river at a local park on Sunday. So, of course, the end of last week was all about that. This week, I've had my aunt and uncle visiting from Wisconsin. Thankfully, they are staying with my other aunt so that I don't have to entertain all week. But we have been off doing stuff with them!
In our homeschool this week…
Last week we covered the Fall of Constantinople, which was fun. We also plowed through a bunch of math. This week we've done nothing. What days we had at home have been spent trying to clean up after having company Saturday night and the BBQ on Sunday!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
It's OK to drop the plans in favor of bonding time with family!
I am inspired by…
The faith shown by this family. Make sure you start with the first part!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
Let's see....
We had friends stay with us Saturday night so they could come to the BBQ on Sunday.
Sunday we had about 30 people at the park celebrating with us.
Monday was a trip to the Oregon Garden with my mom, aunt & uncle.
Tuesday Bug went up the Columbia Gorge with my mom, aunt & uncle. I stayed home to clean house!
Wednesday we hung out at the beach with family.
Thursday was cleaning & errands. (It's amazing how messy the house gets even when you aren't home!)
Friday is more hanging locally with family.
My favorite thing this week was…
Definitely having so many friends & family celebrating Bug's birthday with us. We don't do a typical birthday party. His birthday just gives us a good reason to gather up our friends and hang out. Everyone LOVED the time in the river!
My kiddo's favorite thing this week was...
Definitely his birthday! Not sure if it would be the computer he received as a gift (we gave him my old laptop) or the BBQ/River time.
Things I’m working on…
I've been working on the blog {I added an 'about us'!} & started up a Facebook page for it! {Go give me a like!}
I’m reading…
I finished One Breath Away, which was fantastic! Now I'm reading some sort of historical romance that I'm not totally into yet.
Bug is reading…
Lot's of comic books. The next 39 clues book. Some choose-your-own adventure. He's all over the board right now!
I’m cooking…
It's not really cooking, but I've been making a lot of my new favorite salad: spinach, fresh pear, Gorgonzola cheese, sliced almonds and chicken all topped with Trader Joe's champagne pear dressing with Gorgonzola cheese. So fabulous!
I’m grateful for…
Family & Friends!
Something I'm ogling or have my eye on...
Something I no longer have my eye on is this book. I'd almost bought it a number of times over the last month. It was one of the final pieces we needed for the next school year (it's recommended for the Bible Road Trip). I found the older version at a used book store today and was selling them some books and ended up with credit! No cash out of pocket is great for the budget!
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
I love that Bug is getting a chance to know his extended family! He really had a blast with them this week!
