The second letter of the alphabet is B. In this house, B stands for Bug. Not the itty-bitty, creepy-crawly type of bug. But the brown-hair, blue-eyed, 8 year old, joy of my life kind of Bug.
Bug got this name as a little baby. The name Sebastian was too much for a baby and we weren't sure what to call him. Seb? Bastian? Sea-Bass? None of those seemed to fit my sweet child.
So we just started calling him Bug-A-Boo. Somehow, it stuck. It wasn't long before we shortened Bug-A-Boo to Bug. Bug occasionally morphs into Buggy or other 'B' nicknames (Boo and Bubby are the most common from me). Bug actually prefers Bug to Sebastian, most of the time. He tells me "It just seems more natural." Hahaha!
We thought with as much as we call him Bug, that others would pick up on it. This hasn't been the case though. His friends all call him Sebastian (or Bastian for ease on the little tongues). It will be interesting to see when (if ever) he asks us to only call him by Sebastian. I'm already sad thinking about it!
Do any of your family members have special nicknames?

Sea Bass! lol!
ReplyDeleteBen gets called Buddy, Boo, B. All those "b" words :)
Love these picks. I can see that your boy has a lot of personality. He's adorable!
Sea Bass made me laugh too. It's actually one of the 'suggestions' we got from a friend when he was little. I just couldn't imagine. But that friend still calls Bug that (he doesn't seem him often). Too funny.
DeleteFun pictures!! My daughter has one of the oddest nicknames in our family - she is Pooker DeBooker and I have no idea how or why we started calling her that.
