Homeschool Mother's Journal ~ February 8, 2013
In my life this week…
I haven't been feeling super hot this week. I've been dealing with a lot of fatigue and some nausea. I'm sure a lot of it is do the PCOS & Hypothyroidism, but some of it maybe food related too.
We ended up spending Wednesday morning taking my mom to urgent care. She had an infection in her toe from some glass that she stepped on. I've been praying that we don't sick from the hours spent in the waiting room!
In our homeschool this week…
It was a slow week. We started reading The Phantom Tollbooth and working on it's corresponding lapbook from Homeschool Share. The book is our read for book club next week, and since it is so full of good stuff, I decided it could be our language focus for the next couple weeks!
We didn't do any history this week because we spent so much time on the lapbook. I'm okay with that though! I love the flexibility that homeschooling allows us!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
Embrace where you are now. Don't dwell on what you should have done. And don't focus too much on where you are going. Enjoy your child this day. This hour. This minute.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
I'm so ready to spend a day at home. What happened to schooling in our pajamas? I had to get out of the house every day this week! The highlight of the week was today. We had science day at co-op and learned about the scientific method by determining whether popcorn floats. Then after co-op, Bug headed to friends' house for the first meeting of Harry Potter book club! More can be found by visiting my friend's blog.
My favorite thing this week was…
Getting some mom time while the kid was at book club! Coffee, shopping, relaxing.
What’s working for us…
Sequential Spelling! It's simple & in just 7 lesson he's actually learned some spelling rules! He doesn't write a lot, so I don't know how much will transfer out of spelling time. But right now, we love it!
I’m reading…
Knife of Dreams by Robert Jordan (book 11 of the Wheel of Time series). Our current read alouds are: The Phantom Tollbooth & Beorn the Proud.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
This is my favorite scripture! My friend Lisa created this scripture photo for me. The picture captures the scripture so well!

ReplyDeleteThose weeks with extra fatigue are so hard! I love sequential spelling. I can't wait to use it on my boys. April didn't take to it too well though, I wish she had.
ReplyDeleteHi! Lovve the blog, as usual! Sorry about your mom, hope she is better now. Can you send me some quick info on sequential spelling? It sounds cool. (love the lion, too)
