Homeschool Mother's Journal ~ March 15, 2013
In our homeschool this week…
We've been working on studying the Vikings in history. We are just about done. Bug just needs to finish his notebook page, which he'll do next week.
The big thing this week was our a full day home with NO place to go. I believe we haven't had a week day with NO where we had to be since December. Yes, really. Our days have been filled with chiropractor appointments, swimming lessons, co-op, and most recently dog walking! I'm looking forward to being home every Wednesday, moving toward even more days home!
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
Find other homeschool moms to connect with - online, in person, or both - and use them for support and fellowship. My local group has a support meeting once a month for the moms. It's so refreshing!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
We had a special treat yesterday! Our co-op had a visit from a chief meterologist from a local news station! He came to speak to our group (the largest we've had so far, about 25 kids!). His presentation was broken into two parts, behind the scenes at the TV station & different weather topics. The kids were all very enthralled!
Mr. Nelsen also showed our group picture on the news tonight. So fun! :)
My favorite thing this week was…
Teaching the Little Kid's Book Club at co-op. The kiddos are just so cute! We did The Little Island unit from Homeschool Share, focusing on islands and counting!
My kiddo's favorite thing this week was...
Harry Potter Book Club. He loves being able to spend time with his friends talking about these fun books! {I love that I get a couple hours without him every other week!}
Things I’m working on…
Doing some spiritual reflection in preperation for Passover and cleaning the house for Days of Unleavened Bread!
I’m reading…
Still working on Knife of Dreams (The Wheel of Time, Book 11).
I’m cooking…
Lemon Poppyseed Muffins, homemade pizza, anything else I can think of that will use up some leavening!
I’m praying for…
The Luker family. Our church organization's president & a beloved pastor passed away yesterday after finding out just two weeks ago that he had stage 4 cancer. Although it's a blessing that he didn't have to suffer long with it, his family is now mourning this quick death. Mr. Luker was a sweet, gentle, humble man who truly loved God and will be greatly missed.
I rewarded my kid this week by...
'Celebrating' Pi Day with a mini pie from Fred Meyer.
Something I'm ogling or have my eye on...
This Juicer ~ inspired by Marcy who has started a 40 day juice fast. You can follow her journey over at Juicing Momma. {I don't want to do a juice fast, but it wouldn't hurt to start adding some good juices into my diet!}

My Naturopath Dr. asked me to try a 9 day juice fast. I made it 2 days, and realized I couldn't do it. My blood sugars were going crazy, and making me extremely grumpy. I wish it would have worked better though. I would really like the benefits of it. I too have thought it would be good to just start adding the juices to my diet as well, but I don't know much about it. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteWow-- what a wonderful week! Always love your blog.... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased he's liking the HP book club!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated Pi day too:) What a great idea to have the local meteorologist come talk to the homeschool group...we need to do that here!
